The weather, currently.

A sunny start to the week

After a delightful weekend of fall-like temperatures, Monday's forecast promises a return to warmer weather with a high near 86. The morning will be perfect for outdoor activities if you have the day off work or school (Austin ISD schools are closed for Indigenous Peoples’ Day), as temperatures transition from a low of 57 at 6am to 77 at 11am, with zero chance of rain. Clouds return Monday night, with a low dipping into the mid-60s and light winds from the south 5 to 10 mph.

What you need to know, currently.

One of the best climate strategies is returning stolen land to Indigenous people — this is what climate justice looks like.

This year, in advance of Indigenous Peoples Day, the NDN Collective has launched a Just Transition fund to help build technical capacity for frontline groups to continue the #landback fight.

Indigenous people already protect the vast majority of the world’s biodiversity, with technologies such as prescribed fire and responsible resource harvesting. It’s time for the rest of society to follow their lead.
