Currently in Austin — November 22, 2023: Cool and sunny

Plus, some big news ... on the road to building a weather service for everyone.

The weather, currently.

Cool and sunny

Grab your walking shoes and a light jacket, or your favorite chair and a friend, and spend some time Wednesday enjoying a sunny sky and a high near 62. Northerly winds continue, not as gusty as Tuesday’s, hovering in the 5-15mph range.

Wednesday night sees increasing clouds, with a low around 40 and a light north wind becoming calm. Thanksgiving Day starts with clouds and a very small chance of rain, but the sun peeps out in the afternoon. Staying in town for Thanksgiving and looking for ways to help? Check out these volunteer opportunities. Whatever you do, I wish you a weekend of gratitude and joy!

What you need to know, currently.

Some big news,

We just launched Currently Weather Service's first community investment! We’re hoping to raise $10,000 between now and Small Business Saturday. Your investment will make the difference in building Currently into a driving force for climate justice.

Starting at $100, you can become a direct investor in Currently and help us move forward with confidence.

We decided to partner with Honeycomb because they’re a platform that allows small businesses like us to raise money from our community instead of a bank. However, we’re not asking for donations like a Kickstarter or a GoFundMe - you actually get to invest in us — and you will own a part of the work we do together.

Thank you so much for supporting our important work to continue building an innovative personalized weather service for the climate emergency.

What you can do, currently.

Everyone deserves to thrive. Everyone is worthy of a better world. That’s why we’re building a weather service for the climate emergency.

Currently’s new weather service is now live. In the weeks and months ahead, we’ll be continually adding more features and opening up more slots as we develop the service.

But for now, space is limited in the weather service because I want to make sure we can provide the highest quality service we possibly can while we work to refine the system with your input.

If you’d like to put your name on the waiting list, be sure to fill out our baseline survey if you haven’t already which will hold your spot in line.

Our goal — as always — is to co-create the most personalized, most informative weather service that exists. And, above all, to make this service accessible, equitable, and resilient enough to bring safety and joy to the climate emergency.
