Currently in Austin — November 10, 2023: Below normal temps
Plus, an all-new Currently Weather Service launches next week!
The weather, currently.
Below normal temps, chance of showers
Two Barred Owls in my neighborhood call “Who cooks for you; who cooks for you all?” to each other. My curiosity led me down a rabbit hole (owl hole?) to “The Texas Breeding Bird Atlas”, and I learned that Barred Owls also have a range of calls including “weird shrieks, screams, cries, trillings, grumbles, and squeaks”. Sounds like the same noises Texans make in response to the ever-changing weather.
Speaking of weather, Friday brings a gusty north wind, a 20% chance of showers and a high around 59 degrees. By Friday night, expect a 40% chance of scattered showers and a low around 53. The weekend remains cool, with highs in the low- to mid-60s. Does this forecast make you grumble with disdain or squeak with delight?

What you need to know, currently.
It’s my great honor to announce that we have a big announcement coming next week.
The new Currently Weather Service is designed to be a complete re-imagination of what a weather service can be in the era of climate change. For us, this launch is at the heart and soul of what we want to do and what we stand for: timely, accurate and easy to understand weather information for everyone, everywhere.
This is a project that’s been in development for months and we’re finally ready to share it with the world.
And I can’t wait to share it with you first, next week.
What you can do, currently.
Currently Sponsorships are short messages we co-write with you to plug your org, event, or climate-friendly business with Currently subscribers. It’s a chance to boost your visibility with Currently — one of the world’s largest daily climate newsletters — and support independent climate journalism, all at the same time. Starting at just $105.
